The idea behind the Qaa is to provide a Greenland kayak for kids in a carbon/kevlar lay-up that can allow young paddlers to build confidence while developing their skills. The proportionally wider beam and steeper sides increases initial stability of the Qaa in comparison to Rebel’s other kayaks in the Greenland line, while the low volume and hard chines allow the Qaa to maintain the key Greenlandic characteristic.
The design of the Qaa lets kids feel safe, while still offering the features needed for progression with edging and rolling. The expectation is that this kayak would serve as a stepping stone for younger paddlers prior to progression into the Naja, or similar Greenland kayak better suited for paddlers with intermediate skills.
The Qaa is currently offered in a carbon/kevlar layup. This is a high quality construction that is lightweight but strong and resists punctures. The Qaa is supplied without a seat in order to suit a wide variety of children. A seat can be provided on request.
